Ray Handley is a former American football player and coach. He played college football at Stanford University as a defensive back and later went on to have a brief career in the NFL, playing for the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants.
Handley transitioned to coaching after retiring as a player and served as an assistant coach for various college and pro teams. He is best known for his time as head coach of the New York Giants from 1991 to 1992, during which he led the team to a 14-18 record.
Handley's tenure as head coach was met with criticism and he was ultimately fired after two seasons. He later served as an offensive coordinator for the New York Jets before stepping away from coaching.
Despite his coaching struggles, Handley is still remembered for his contributions to the game of football and remains a respected figure in the sport.
